Sensitive skin deserves a thoughtful brow experience.

Does your skin seem to have an opinion about everything?

A new cream? Redness. A new facial? Reaction. Hair removal? Your skin has something to say about that  too.

If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone.

At Girlfriends Brow Bar, one of the reasons we love the ancient art of threading is its beautifully  uncomplicated nature.

Threading removes brow hair precisely using twisted cotton thread rather than applying hot wax directly over the skin.

But when we talk about sensitive skin, our philosophy goes deeper than simply choosing one hair-removal  technique over another.

We believe the first step is listening to your skin… and listening to you.

Sensitive skin is not one-size-fits-all

Two girlfriends can both tell us they have “sensitive skin” and mean completely different things.

One may become red very easily. Another may be using active skincare. Someone else may have recently  had another beauty treatment.

That is why we do not want to make assumptions before we touch your brows.

Tell us. What happens when you normally remove facial hair? What products are you using? Have you  experienced reactions before? Is there something you are worried about?

Our job is not simply to get through the appointment. Our job is to understand the canvas we are working  with.

Why do people with sensitive skin consider eyebrow threading?

Threading does not require warm wax to be spread over the brow area. Instead, the brow artist uses thread  to target unwanted hair with controlled movements.

For clients who are trying to reduce the number of products involved in their brow-shaping experience, that  simplicity can be very appealing.

But we never want to tell every sensitive-skinned girlfriend: “This will work for you.”

Because everyone’s skin is different. We would much rather have a conversation first.

That is part of what specialization means to us and this is what we aim to provide clients coming to us for eyebrow threading in Kitsilano.

Your brow artist should be looking at more than hair

When you sit in our chair, we are not just searching for hairs to remove.

We are looking at the condition of your skin, your natural growth, your existing brow shape, areas that should remain fuller, your desired result, and how much change actually needs to happen.

Sometimes the difference between a beautiful result and an overworked brow is a brow artist knowing when to stop.

That takes focus. Patience. And respect for what is already naturally yours.

You are part of the service

At Girlfriends Brow Bar, we do not believe the client should be treated like a blank canvas with no voice. You are our co-creator.

You know how your skin behaves. You know what look you want. And you know what makes you feel  confident.

Our artists bring professional skill and a trained eye. Together, we decide where we are going. That is where the magic happens. Not to you. With you.

GOLDEN AFTERCARE RULES

Golden Rule #1: Hands off for a little while.

Freshly threaded skin may feel temporarily sensitive. Avoid repeatedly touching, rubbing or picking at the area  immediately afterward.

Golden Rule #2: Keep the rest of your routine gentle.

If your skin tends to be reactive, do not overwhelm freshly threaded skin with unnecessary friction or multiple new  products immediately after your appointment. Always tell your brow artist about sensitivities, skincare products or  concerns beforehand.

Beautiful brows should feel like you

Sensitive skin does not mean giving up on beautifully shaped brows. It simply means your service deserves  more thought. More conversation. More attention. And sometimes, a gentler approach.

At Girlfriends Brow Bar, we do not want to simply shape your brows and send you on your way.

We want to understand your skin, understand your vision and create the result together.
