We were honoured to feature Izabela (aka. The Cake Mama) as our Girlfriend of the Month for June, 2021. We have had the pleasure of getting acquainted with Izabela when she visited our new Kelowna brow bar location last year, for a lash lift treatment. We were blown away by her kindness and impressed with how she’s built her very successful business over the years.
Izabela has been baking from home since 2006 and was coined “The Cake Mama” after baking for friends and family for years. She decided to officially launch her business on her 30th birthday to celebrate a new decade of possibilities, and we are so that glad she did.
We had the opportunity to ask Izabela a few questions as part of our girlfriend of the month feature. Keep reading on to see what she had to say!
Q: What do you love about Girlfriends Brow Bar?
A: I love Girlfriends Brow Bar because of their exceptional service and incredibly kind and knowledgable staff! I loved my lash lift treatment, it made getting ready for the day so much easier!
Q: Who has been your greatest female influence or inspiration and why?
A: To be honest my influence/inspiration are other fellow female entrepreneurs and mothers who are doing their best to balance family and chase after their dreams.
Q: What was your biggest “aha” moment that shaped you to become who you are today?
A: The day I became a mother. I realized that as much as I wanted to provide for my children, I also wanted to show them what it looks like to chase after your dreams and work hard to get there.
Q: If you could write something on a billboard for the whole world to see, what would it be?
A: “Nothing changes if nothing changes!”
Q: What advice would you give your younger self, or someone thinking of following your path in business/life?
A: Don’t listen to the nay-sayers. Listen to your heart and take the necessary steps to get closer to your dream. People will always have an opinion for how you should lead your life and its nothing more than a reflection of how they view themselves. Don’t ever give up!
